From human commitment to stage presence

Gaëlle Buswel’s career has always been guided by her rare generosity and a visceral need to bring people together through music. Early on, armed only with her acoustic guitar, she spent several months in London busking in the Underground – a challenge she later repeated with great success in the Paris Metro. This approach naturally led her to giving free concerts in detention centers and children’s hospitals. This commitment to bringing music to different causes has found her likened to other folk artists in the American tradition.

On stage, Gaëlle is very much at home, showcasing her musical depth and extraordinary vocal range in addition to bringing a wild, electrifying energy that ignites her concerts and which has seen her compared to Tina Turner.  She is a natural performer whose unforgettable voice and sheer talent have earned her unanimous critical acclaim: Rock & Folk praises the rare intensity of her vocal presence, France Inter notes that she « carries blues-rock like no one else in France today, » while Rolling Stone Magazine lauds her « irresistible groove. »

2011: Meeting Neal Black and previous Albums

From an early age, Gaëlle Buswel instinctively gravitated toward the music of the 1970s Raised on the family’s records of Led Zeppelin, Joe Cocker, Queen, Neil Young, and Janis Joplin, as a teenager, she dove deep into the blues upon discovering artists such as Bonnie Raitt and Jonny Lang. Performing on stage from the age of 13 and later touring with the band Cam On, she learned her craft on the roads of Europe.

The year 2011 marked a turning point in her artistic life when she met American bluesman Neal Black. Becoming a mentor to the young singer, he guided and encouraged her, co-writing her very first acoustic album, Yesterday’s Shadow, released in 2012. Driven by this close collaboration, the title track reached number 1 in the United States on the Concert Blogger website and gained significant visibility in France (W9, TSF Jazz).

In November 2014, backed once again by Neal Black and beginning her relationship with New York lyricist Angela Randall, as well as her fans, she released the album Black to Blue. This record, featuring collaborations with Elliott Murphy and Patrick Rondat, opened doors for her across North America (including the 8 PM news headlines in Saint-Pierre-et-Miquelon and a live radio performance on New York station WFDU FM). In the summer of 2015, Gaëlle set off alone with her guitar to explore the United States for a 45-day long road trip. During an improvised jam session in Austin, Texas, an unexpected encounter shifted the trajectory in just 48 hours when she met musician David Quick, who gifted her one of his songs, « No One Else. » Promising to record it together, they brought the project to life as a duo at the end of 2015. This unexpected moment sparked the writing and production of Gaëlle’s third album, New Day’s Waiting, released on March 31, 2017. Recorded entirely on tape with Peter Deimel et the renown studio Black Box and in Texas, the entire album reflects that same purity as that initial duo.

International Breakthrough and playing major venues

Between the release of her third album and 2021, Gaëlle Buswel reached a major milestone, becoming one of the most active and respected independent touring artists on the scene, headlining global tours and receiving prestigious invitations:

• Touring with Jonny Lang (Late 2017): Barely back from her first ever tour of Japan in September 2017, she was chosen to open for the entire French tour for her ultimate musical reference, Jonny Lang. Every night – notably at a sold-out La Cigale in Paris – the audience responded by giving her vibrant standing ovations.
• The Year of Legendary Opening Acts (2018): In January, she took the stage at the Paris Olympia for the first time, opening for the French group Tri Yann. On May 14, she performed at the Palais des Congrès de Paris alongside American musician Beth Hart. June 6, 2018, would mark a milestone in her career when she again opened at the Paris Olympia but this time for Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band.
• The Beginning of International Recognition: In August 2018, her second tour in Arizona was a massive success. She sold out the mythical Elks Theater in Prescott, made the front pages of local newspapers (Prescott, Sedona), and stood out with her live performance on the hit TV show Good Morning Arizona. In September, she flew back to Japan for an exclusive showcase presenting the 2019 Rugby World Cup.
• Meeting ZZ Top (July 2019): Her reputation as an outstanding live performer allowed her to share the bill in France with the legendary rockers of ZZ Top during a memorable debut summer tour.

During this intense period, she left her mark on many major festivals (Cognac Blues Passions, Cahors Blues Festival, Montereau Festival, Musik à Manosque…) and established herself in Paris’s finest venues (Le Trianon, Le Café de la Danse, Le New Morning). Her versatility even led her to perform for the cast of the TV series The Vampire Diaries in France, and to open for Tyler Hilton (One Tree Hill) and Darren Criss (Glee).

In 2021, Gaëlle Buswel released Your Journey, a fourth studio album heavily supported by the French national press (Le Parisien, Voici, RTL). Invited by the French Embassy in Kazakhstan for a major diplomatic event, she became a true icon for the local female audience. In 2023 she continued her extraordinary ascension by releasing a live album captured inside London’s mythical Abbey Road Studios. That same year, she was named the « 50th Anniversary Favorite » of Georges Lang’s famous show, Les Nocturnes, at the RTL television studios.

In 2024, she reunited with the giants of ZZ Top to set the stage of the Zénith de Paris on fire, before being chosen by The Dire Straits Experience to open solo, alone with her guitar for a massive, sold-out marathon tour of 14 Zénith arenas. In 2025, while starting work on the next album with her team, she continued to shine on the festival circuit and opened for John Fogerty also at the Zénith de Paris.

Early 2026 marked her first Prime-Time television appearance on France 4 / France.TV in Raphaël Mezrahi’s La Nuit de la Déprime.
